But I was completely waylaid by what is the most magical book I have read for ages (and yes, it was a counter-intuitive choice for reading and eating--there is something agreeably unsettling about all this), Armand Marie Leroi's truly excellent
Mutants: On Genetic Variety and the Human Body. Everyone should read this book! It's stupendous! Only you might not want to read it if you're pregnant....
