If you haven't been already, you HAVE to try the frosting/cupcakes (really, I think they're two very different but exciting things) at Sugar Sweet Sunshine on Rivington. SO yummy. I brought some to the Cupcake series a few weeks ago when I read. Delish. And, in my opinion, better than Magnolia (the women who started it used to work at Magnolia). Nice to meet a fellow cupcake lover!
Thanks for the tip, Rachel! I do really love cupcakes, their only shortcoming (I feel) is that cupcakes and beer are mutually exclusive and I rarely find myself on the Lower East Side except on nights involving lots of drinking. However, I will make an attempt to score a few cupcakes next time I'm in the neighborhood...
I have published four novels and four books of literary criticism; I'm currently at work on a book called FOR THE LOVE OF BROKEN THINGS: MY FATHER, EDWARD GIBBON AND THE RUINS OF ROME. I teach in the Department of English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University.
