I have recently started writing a novel and it's like Kennedy was siphoning thoughts directly from my brain. I don't know how you do it what with the demands of teaching university (though someday I hope to be in your position), training for a triathalon (I leave that one entirely to you), and writing a novel. I guess that's why you've taken a sabbatical.
I have published four novels and four books of literary criticism; I'm currently at work on a book called FOR THE LOVE OF BROKEN THINGS: MY FATHER, EDWARD GIBBON AND THE RUINS OF ROME. I teach in the Department of English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University.
