Poor old iron; doesn't even get used to play a game any more! Gets very little use at our place, as I might bring it out to do tablecloths, and Iain occasionally irons a shirt, but that's about all. I guess people playing Monopoly nowadays look at the iron and wonder what the heck it is.
I have published four novels and four books of literary criticism; I'm currently at work on a book called FOR THE LOVE OF BROKEN THINGS: MY FATHER, EDWARD GIBBON AND THE RUINS OF ROME. I teach in the Department of English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University.
