For a good cause

Various authors are auctioning off the right to have your name or the name of your nearest & dearest (or your enemy? but perhaps that is legally iffy) used for a character in forthcoming books (the proceeds will go to the First Amendment Project); go and take a look, it's not just that it's a good cause, it's also sort of fascinating to see the full range of what's on offer.
