The sense of smell

The headline says it all: Joan of Arc's relics exposed as forgery. But there are some quite amazing details too, involving (among other things) a cat femur, pollen analysis and "leading 'noses' of the perfume industry: Sylvaine Delacourte from Guerlain, and Jean-Michel Duriez from Jean Patou."   1. No real surprise that the relics are fake since the history of Joan of Arc is very well documented and says she was burned and all that was left afterwards were ashes that were thrown in the river. For researching her life the following page is excellent:
