At the Beinecke Library blog, writers and their animals.
Witold and Rita Gombrowicz with Psina

  1. This is definitely the best one in the bunch, I love the vocho (vw) as we call them back home. I love Billie Holiday and that photograph is beautiful. Cheers!

  2. Too bad there's no picture of Lampedusa and his mutts: Here's what Wendy Lesser wrote in our recent issue:

"Part of what made him monstrous was his intense immersion in literature. He seemed to have read everything, not only in Italian but also in French and English, and to a certain extent in German, Russian, and Spanish. (He and Licy, who had dogs instead of children, spoke to each pet in a different language.)"

    Best, Eric
