Incidental pleasures
I am having a very lovely visit to Henrix College. Incidental pleasures: lunch yesterday at the Oxford American in Little Rock (I not very adventurously had a grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup, rather than sampling new Southern cuisine of various kinds - it is a simple pleasure I can rarely resist when I see it - but the meal ended with one of the most delicious desserts I've ever eaten, Do-si-do Girl Scout cookies crumbled up in a jar with white chocolate ganache and a salted caramel peanut ice-cream). Pizza, salad and a margarita for dinner at Zaza with my host Dorian and old friend Giffen. And a cat colony on campus!

Miracle on 115th St.
It was as though the gods had answered my prayers - I learned this morning that the Columbia EcoReps were accepting donations of all sorts today on College Walk (1 block from my apartment), including BOOKS! The underlying organization is Goodwill, so I was even able to get a tax receipt. I left off a bag of clothes and shoes (mostly injury-producing running shoes!), which saved me the trouble of taking it to the Cathedral, and 2 large loads of books. Now officially 124 books lighter...

Campus bunnies

Obviously one would not introduce them deliberately, but these rabbits (courtesy of Wendy) are awfully sweet...
