I don't know why they bothered the judge with this when my number's in the book. I've known that those things aren't potato chips for longer than I've known how to tie my shoes. Though I might have lied about it once I found out that the company was standing to benefit financially from this awful fact.
I have published four novels and four books of literary criticism; I'm currently at work on a book called FOR THE LOVE OF BROKEN THINGS: MY FATHER, EDWARD GIBBON AND THE RUINS OF ROME. I teach in the Department of English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University.
Philosophically speaking, this is huge.
