Roger Waters has long been a favorite of mine. His discussions of his band mates brings back a memory of a long ago interview I read. His band mates were complaining that he would never allow any of their songs on the later Pink Floyd albums. His answer – if their songs were any good he would use them.
While virtually the entire Pink Floyd library is legendary in its brilliance, genius and excellence, I have also been a long time fan of Waters’ solo efforts. I have long considered his Radio KAOS and Amused to Death albums to be, in my mind, right up with close to the best that Pink Floyd had to offer.
Now it is once again time to set the controls for the heart of the sun.
I have published four novels and four books of literary criticism; I'm currently at work on a book called FOR THE LOVE OF BROKEN THINGS: MY FATHER, EDWARD GIBBON AND THE RUINS OF ROME. I teach in the Department of English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University.
