Drugstore noir

At the LA Times, Denise Hamilton profiles Charles Ardai of Hard Case Crime. These books are quite gorgeous; take a look perhaps at Domenic Stansberry's The Confession if you want a good place to start.... (Thanks to Sarah for the link.)

  1. Have you read any of Denise Hamilton's books, Jenny? They are absolutely my cup of tea, a great juxtaposition of most of my favourite features -- female heroine, journalist, LA, political corruption, sex-related crimes, rackets, racism-- etc.
Denise is an incredibly nice person I think -- I discovered her books through a book club over here but when I used to be on Dorothy L mail list, she posted on that sometimes and was very kind in a couple of emails we exchanged.

Irrespective of all that, I think you'd like her books -- of course I can't remember what they are all called === was the first one the Jasmine Trade? Great plot concept. One was called Sugar Skull, and I think she has a new one out around now.
