Wilson does have a series of semi-autobiographical novels that I like (I can't remember the names of them, and they've each been published, like your werewolf book, under a bunch of names). I think the truth--genius or scmuck--might be somewhere in the middle?
lordy, I've never read anything by wilson that was even vaguely digestible... and the piece in the Guardian really confirms everything I've ever thought.
I have published four novels and four books of literary criticism; I'm currently at work on a book called FOR THE LOVE OF BROKEN THINGS: MY FATHER, EDWARD GIBBON AND THE RUINS OF ROME. I teach in the Department of English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University.
