James Lasdun has won

that big short story prize; I haven't read the story but it seems to me most just on the basis of what I know, which is that Lasdun should be MUCH MUCH more famous and lavishly rewarded with money and acclaim than I suspect he is in the actual world we live in--I thought his two novels were absolutely excellent.
