You know, sometimes Modern Love can really good and emotionally affecting (rarely), sometimes they're not great (often), and sometimes they're incredibly hilarious (intentionally or unintentionally). The headline of this one definitely has already landed it in the latter category.
I was thinking about blogging about it, but I don't even know where to begin, especially because one would have to acknowledge the attempt at humor alongside the horror, and really better just to leave it alone.
I have published four novels and four books of literary criticism; I'm currently at work on a book called FOR THE LOVE OF BROKEN THINGS: MY FATHER, EDWARD GIBBON AND THE RUINS OF ROME. I teach in the Department of English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University.
