My friend Steve Burt has a great piece at the Poetry Foundation website on Alexander Pope as proto-rapper.
We are clearly in the thick of a Pope resurgence! (Here's the Amazon link for Sophie Gee's excellent novel about Pope, The Scandal of the Season.) Pope is a genius, but not one of the authors to whom my heart most passionately thrills; however, my partisanship for the eighteenth century makes this a happy development nonetheless.
