I was very pleased

with Michael Simon's Dirty Sally: good-quality noir fiction, set in Austin in the late 80s--I hope that this is the first in a series, I will avidly await the next one.

  1. Ha, go figure -- couldn't get past the first couple of chapters b/c it reminded me of too many other books. Different strokes, as usual...

  2. Funny! I thought he had a few too many strands going on, but I liked it very much.

  3. I had the same reaction Sarah did. I think that's the problem sometimes with reading so many crime novels: some of the ones you might otherwise like feel too much the same, and thus disappoint.
